The introduction of the 3-point line in the NBA in the 1979-1980 season marked a significant change in the way the game was played. Prior to its implementation, the game relied heavily on close-range and mid-range shots, with the occasional long-range shot attempted as a desperation move. The 3-point line, however, changed all of that, introducing a new element of strategy and excitement to the game. One player who made a significant impact during the first season of the 3-point line was Chris Ford. Ford, a guard for the Boston Celtics, was one of the top 3-point shooters in the league that season, averaging 2.4 made 3-pointers per game. He also led the league in 3-point shooting percentage one year, hitting on 42.7% of his attempts from beyond the arc. In addition to his impressive shooting numbers, Ford also played an important role for the Celtics as a leader on the court. He was known for his steady hand and ability to make clutch shots, which helped lead the team to a 61-21 record
